A window is never just a window.
It is a quiet abyss, a passage between the self and the world.
In every pane of glass, I saw time—past and future, seen and unseen.
As I gazed out, the world looked back, and in that mirrored moment,
I began to see myself.
This project is a visual exploration of gaze, space, and self-perception. Over the course of four months, I photographed 420 windows—each one a point of quiet observation and reflection. Through the recurring act of looking, I explored three layers of seeing: I am watching, I see myself, and I am being watched.
To me, windows are more than architectural elements—they are thresholds between the inner self and the outside world. They carry curiosity, memory, and projection. From childhood fascination to adult reflection, the window has remained a constant site of wonder and questioning.
Inspired by Lacan’s theory of the gaze and my own emotional responses, this work transforms ordinary windows into emotional and conceptual markers. It invites viewers to reconsider the act of seeing—not just as a visual experience, but as a dialogue between self, space, and the other.
